Dear Ministry Partners and Friends,

The Lord continues to open doors of great opportunity to World Hope. When we began over two decades ago, I only knew that God wanted me to be obedient to Him with what was in front of me. Though I had great dreams and believed the Lord had given me specific direction, I still could never have imagined that we would be here today; on the doorstep to an opportunity that is not only larger than we have ever had in our history but also one that is on our very doorstep. We have found ourselves with the opportunity to do missions, here at home.

Just over a year ago, we traveled to the city of Detroit and were shocked by what we saw. It seemed that the “third world” had come to our shores and we were witnessing devastation, as we never thought we would see in United States. We came away with a thought resonating in our minds like a continuing drumbeat, “doing nothing is not an option.” We could not escape the reality that thousands were hurting right in front of us and were desperate for some good news.

We immediately began seeking the Lord for direction and started the process of finding an appropriate site for a Hope Center in the inner city. With 10,000 families becoming homeless every year in Detroit, it will not be difficult to find a location where we could minister. There are several abandoned schools and churches that could be a fitting place to open our Hope Center; please help us pray for wisdom in choosing the right location.

Our new partnership with K-LOVE radio is a major component in the genesis of this project. Scott Smith, the afternoon anchor for the network, recently traveled to Detroit with me to shoot some video footage for their upcoming push at making all of this a reality. Smith, having recently traveled to war torn Afghanistan, was amazed at the similarities between the two countries. “The opportunity to bring hope back to Detroit is overwhelming,” Smith said. K-LOVE will soon launch a one-day fundraising drive to help us bring that Hope that Smith talked about to so many that are in great need.

Now, with the launch of our new website, RevivalOfDetroit.com, the project of bringing hope to Detroit is in full swing. A survey team of engineers and contractors just recently returned from the site of the new Hope Center having completed its first full inspection. While there is still much work to be finished, the job has started and the revival has begun. Teams of volunteers are already signing up to come and help us renovate the property so that ministry can begin right away. Your prayers, support, and time are invaluable to us; simply put, we need you!

The Kenya Hope Center continues to flourish. A team of men recently returned from there with plans for upgrades to the church’s electrical system so that now the entire church can have lighting and be better prepared for future medical clinics. Hope Academy continues to add students as well, as we continue to rescue children with little hope of success outside of a solid education.

We had very successful trips to Haiti in the last few months as well. Our medical clinics treated hundreds, many of which had never even seen a doctor in their entire life. We preached the gospel to everyone who came and food and clothing was distributed to many.

You can see that the Lord has given us so much to be done for the Kingdom. I am reminded of Galatians 6, which tells us that, “as we have opportunity, do good to all, especially those within the household of faith.” Well, we have great opportunity, and with it comes great responsibility.

We need you to pray for all of these irons in our fire, but more than that, we need these to be your irons. We need you travel with us to Kenya this summer, and with us to Detroit in the coming year. We need you to be World Hope. Thank you for allowing us to serve with you and thank you for continuing to bring hope to the world.

Dr. Dave Janney
