Camp Electric this year was bigger and better than ever. Though this is our fourth year partnering with them, we are constantly impressed by the way we see God’s presence in the hearts of kids. This is largely due to the tremendous amount of work that goes into planning camp. Camp Electric is a weeklong music camp for students who desire to pursue a love of worship music while pursuing a relationship with Christ. Each year, we are amazed by the amount of talent at these camps and by the number of students desiring to use their musical talents for Christ.
Each day of camp, students are taught lessons and engaged in breakout sessions by acclaimed Christian music artists and their supporting bands. The breakouts are instrument specific and balance a tremendous depth with an easy to understand method for students. It is a chance for a student to take guitar lessons from Toby Mac’s guitarist or learn drum solos from Mandisa’s drummer, or anyone of their favorite artists. Then each night, students are treated to monumental concerts showcasing the same artists who are teaching them all week.
This year, there were three separate weeks of Camp Electric to allow for the growing number of students wanting to attend. The host cities this year were Nashville, Tennessee, Cedarville, Ohio and for the first time, Orlando, Florida. Through programs like “Strings of Hope,” where students donate the equivalent to the price of a set of guitar strings to help further Hope around the world, we have collectively raised over $50,000. These students really know their stuff, and it is obvious they are invested in spreading the Hope and love of Christ through their talents and treasures.
